Video Poker is a beloved game that can be played in casinos all over the world, or in your house on your computer, using a web account. The game rules are absolutely simple and involve the player trying to get the highest combination of cards possible in order to acquire cash. In this respect it’s very similar as a normal game of poker, without the involvement with any other players. Of course, methods used in a physical game of poker, such as bluffing, will be useless in Video Poker.

The game of Electronic Poker begins when the enthusiast inserts credits (either tokens, credit slips or money) into the machine and presses the draw button. A hand of 5 cards will then be "given out" on the screen.

The Video Poker machine also has hold buttons, and bettors should now pick which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the enthusiast would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they wish, from all to none.

After the bettor has decided on which cards he would like to keep, the player will then press ‘deal’, which will mean that any fresh cards will be dealt if desired. The game is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands listed in the pay out schedule.

Generally, the lowest winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money getting larger for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It should be known that the pay out schedule can vary from machine to machine, so that experienced enthusiasts are agile enough to pick the most beneficial machine each and every time.

As soon as the initial round has completed, the player can either decide to stay on in an attempt to increase their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any cash that has been won. Additionally, several styles of the game allow the player a chance to increase their wins, in which case another hand is played. There are also differences among individual games, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other varying aspects to increase playability.
