Electronic Poker is a popular game that can be wagered on in casinos across the globe, or in your house on your personal computer, using a web connection. The rules are very simple and involve the player attempting to achieve the greatest combination of cards as you can in order to acquire money. In this respect it is very similar as a regular game of poker, minus the involvement with other players. Of course, tactics employed during a physical game of poker, such as tricking, will be useless in Video Poker.
The game of Video Poker starts when the bettor puts credits (either tokens, tickets or money) into the machine and presses the draw button. A hand of 5 cards will be electronically ‘dealt’ on the screen.
The Video Poker machine also has hold buttons, and bettors should now decide which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the player wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they want, whether it is all or none.
After the enthusiast has selected which cards he or she would like to retain, the player will then press ‘deal’, which will mean that any fresh cards are needed they will be dealt. The hand is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands listed in the payout schedule.
Generally, the lowest succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It is obvious that the pay out schedule can change from game to game, so that experienced bettors are able to select the most money-making machine each time.
After the first round has completed, the player can either decide to remain on in an attempt to increase their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any money that has been won. Additionally, several styles of the game allow the player an opportunity to double their profits, in which instance a further hand is played. There are also variations among individual machines, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other varying aspects to enhance playability.
